Did you know on average, an American woman uses 12 beauty products every day? That means she’s likely exposed to 100 ingredients or more in those 12 products! And teenage girls use an average of 17 personal care products a day!

DETOX YOUR BEAUTY ROUTINE WITH THESE SIMPLE STEPS:
- How safe are the products you are using on yourself and your family? Not sure? Check now with this very user-friendly app. Visit the ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING GROUP (EWG) website (www.ewg.org) and download the SKIN DEEP Cosmetics Database app. This database allows people to search over 73,000 personal care products on the market to see their safety rating. Ratings are scored on a 0 -10 scale. This is a MUST HAVE step in your detox routine. This is one app that everyone should download!
- Why should we avoid PARABENS? Parabens are a “class” of preservatives commonly used in skin care and make-up products to prevent the growth of bacteria and mold. All products containing water must use a preservative, unless they are to be stored in the refrigerator. It’s best to avoid any products ending in -paraben since they mimic estrogen and may play a role in triggering Cancer or other health issues.
- Did you know that PHTHALATES (pronounced THAL-ates), commonly found in many cosmetics products, can actually disrupt your endocrine system? So what are phthalates anyway? Phthalates, often labeled using the abbreviation DBP and DEHP, are used in cosmetic products to make fragrances stay on the skin, nail polish stick and bend around your nail and styling hair products stay more malleable.
- Did you know that FRAGRANCE is considered an industry “trade secret?” Therefore, companies aren’t forced to disclose the chemicals used to create their scent. The scents usually contain many chemicals, and companies don’t have to disclose what is really included. As a word of caution, check your labels and avoid products that list “fragrance” in the ingredients. Afraid to take the “journey” alone?
