Who is Elaine Oziel?

Elaine Oziel is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and the owner of Distinctly Nourished, where she empowers busy moms to simplify nutrition, gain energy, and achieve lasting wellness. Elaine’s journey from being a stay-at-home mom to four children to becoming a holistic health expert is a testament to her resilience and dedication to self-care. At 40, after facing burnout and an autoimmune diagnosis, Elaine took a bold step back to prioritize her health, which led her to pursue a career in holistic nutrition.

Please briefly summarize your life's journey, highlighting the significant chapters and pivotal moments.

I was a stay-at-home mom to 4 kids for 16 years. I was experiencing burnout and developed an autoimmune which led me to take an alternative approach to medicine and bring balance back to my body. Through my own journey, I was drawn to go back to school at 40 years old and study holistic nutrition. Now, help busy moms get ready to put some focus back on themselves, simplify nutrition, gain more energy, find balance with food, and feel their best again.

How many children do you have, and what are their ages? (if applicable)

Four kids: 19, 17, 14, 9

What lessons did you learn about yourself throughout your journey?

I learned that I just needed to stop, slow down, and relieve the pressure on myself. I needed to learn to listen to my body's whispers.

What motivates you to keep going during difficult times?

I am setting a positive example for my children by saying that caring for yourself is essential for a strong mind and body.

How have you been able to prioritize your passion, purpose, and wellbeing alongside motherhood?

I live it. I do not exercise or eat "healthy" as a punishment for my body but to celebrate it.

How do you define self-care and what does it look like for you?

Self-care is not selfish, and it doesn't always mean manicures and bubble baths. I try to teach my clients that self-care can be taking the time to make a nourishing home-cooked meal, getting to bed early, or taking a walk.

What changes needed to be made in your life to allow you to live a life where you feel fulfilled?

I needed to slow down and set boundaries.

Why do you think it's important for women to share their journeys and inspire other women?

We never know what about our story resonates with someone else going through the same feelings and experiences. Listening to how someone navigated through their journey may just be the inspiration someone needs to make a change.
