Who are Tami Daks and Lauren Gwartz?

Tami and Lauren are twin sisters and co-owners of Side by Side Design, a dual-faceted design firm with a specialty in luxury interiors and event design. They also founded a product line in support of mental health in Israel called Love, Light & Peace and continue to advocate for this cause throughout all of our social channels.

Please briefly summarize your life's journey, highlighting the significant chapters and pivotal moments.

As twins, we traveled through our college experience together and separately. We both went to Arizona State, had separate majors, and lived in separate dorms. Tami became a teacher after college, and Lauren began her career in Interior Design. We decided to work together as Lauren was having her first baby. We now have 5 girls between us and have been in business creating beautiful interiors and events for 11 years.

What motivates you to keep going during difficult times?

No matter what, we always return to showing our daughters that we are strong leaders in our community. We believe in finding a balance between doing good deeds and supporting others, volunteering at their schools and showing up in a meaningful way, and working hard and showing them that you can make a living doing what you love!

Why do you think it's important for mothers to share their journeys and inspire other mothers?

We started our business at a time when it was not super typical for women to support each other especially not in our industry. It felt more competitive and we didn't like that. Early on, we decided we would rather collaborate with other women (especially working moms) than see them as competition and we became a source of support for many of our friends starting out businesses. Now, this is way more typical, and we still welcome collaboration with open arms!! It took us getting over a certain mindset to change this about ourselves, and we believe it is important for women to see others struggle and kill it!
